The monochromatic color scheme of the work, which is entirely black, directs the visitor’s attention away from visual stimuli and towards the immersive and transformative sensory experience created by the air vortexes and sound of “Black Tempest”. As the tempestuous forces of the air vortexes stir the skin and awaken the senses, visitors are invited to be sensorily curious. “Black Tempest” challenges the ableist assumptions of the public sphere and invites us to consider the ways in which touch and sound shape our perceptions and interactions with the urban space around us.
